9x12 acrylics November-December 2015

In November my husband was laid off from work so we drove to Florida and stayed at his sister's house in Florida.

Here's a picture of her house I painted after we got home. I like to start out with more abstract colors to try to get the proportions and values right without having to worry about semi-realistic colors.

Here's a picture of her neighbor's house

Here's some pictures I painted onsite while Jer took his sister for a bike ride on our tandem along the Gainesville-Hawthorne State Park Trail. I stood across the street on a lawn being careful not to stand in any ant hills. Temperature was pleasant as I wore a long sleeve shirt and a hat. Not too many visitors but everyone talked to me later. The first one was started with realistic colors but then I got frustrated and did a quick painting with abstract colors. Quite a challenge painting in the sun. Every so often a gust of wind would come by so the umbrella was only somewhat helpful. Probably should have weighted my easel down with a jug of water.

I think the proportions are better on this one.

Grant Park, 11/7/15, 8x8 acrylic

Met up at Grant Park. I stood on a bridge looking down over a ravine. Very nice park. Kind of cold. http://milwaukeesketchclub.blogspot.com/2015/11/milwaukee-sketch-club-at-grant-park.html

pencil sketches, Starbucks 11/13/15

Nice place. Lots of people. Nice and warm fireplace. Met a friendly Korean War Veteran. See if you can guess which sketch is his. http://milwaukeesketchclub.blogspot.com/2015/11/milwaukee-sketch-club-at-starbucks.html

Vernon Marsh, 6x8 acrylic, 10/23/15

I can't believe it's already the end of January. Where did the time go?

From what I recall it was a pretty nice fall day but mostly overcast and threatening to rain. Hunters were out hunting and a pheasant walked through the parking lot very close to us. http://milwaukeesketchclub.blogspot.com/2015/11/milwaukee-sketch-club-at-vernon-marsh.html

Boerner Botanical Gardens 8x8 acrylic 9/12/15

I am working at catching up so will be a whole series of posts.

I attended LMA's Artists in the Garden. http://milwaukeesketchclub.blogspot.com/2015/07/lma-at-artists-in-garden-september-12.html . Thank you Donna Staats and Mary Price, You did a fantastic job. Very well run event and it was free to participants if you didn't care to sell anything. You also got in the gardens for free. I ended up only being able to go on Saturday because as I was painting a crisis came up and I had to leave.
