Pastel Plein Air Sketches/Paintings

Went to Hoyt park and painted rocks in the Menomonee River under a stone bridge on a very hot day but it was cool under the bridge. Then later that week went to Covered Bridge Park in Cedarburg and painted rocks under both bridges. I wonder if painting rocks and water will catch my eye this Wednesday at Greenfield Park.

In process pastel paintings of Irises

Went to Boerner Botanical Gardens with Milwaukee Sketch Club & did a pastel sketch of 3 Irises cascading down which I probably won't rework. I redid it on black sanded paper. Then started working on individual blossoms on regular mis tientes pastel paper.

Pastel sketch of round smoke house

Sketched smoke house at Stage Coach's Inn historical site in Brookfield during from Milwaukee Sketch Club's plein air outing, http://milwaukeesketchclub.blogspot.com/ . Sunny, 60F with a slight wind. Chose rough side of paper to get speckles of light.
Had a lot of fun, looking forward to the next outing this Saturday at McKinley Marina.

Acylic Butterfly - texture exploration - 24" x 24"

Just finished this. Experimented with Golden Acrylic regular Gel, Glass bead gel, fiber paste, Light molding paste and micaceous iron oxide. I like the sculptural effects and variation in gloss you get with these mediums.
