D hand, pencil sketches 5.5 x 8.8

I was thinking of Mark Kistler's shading of nooks and crannies.
I was thinking of the fingers as cylinders.
Even the shadows have form.








I try to have sketchbooks everywhere so I can take advantage of sketching opportunities.

I found out the best way to scan in drawings with a flat sketchbook is to cover the sketchbook with a double towel layer and weight it down with rocks to keep light from sneaking in at the edges.

shadow is not all one shade.
also reflected light makes edge of hand slightly lighter
didn't quite get the foreshortening of the fingers.

pen 4x6 Reiki Master

 

Chris volunteers at the hospital twice a week. One day he makes cookies, chocolate chip and raisin oatmeal. The other day he does Reiki which he learned because it got rid of his chronic headache. He was moving around quite a bit so sketch is not perfect. The nurses noticed me sketching so I showed it to Chris and had him autograph the sketch.

the shadows were very interesting. They were moving pretty fast.

Kind of reminds me of Mark Kistler's multiple houses assignment.

4x6 pen sketches jury

Been very busy the last couple of weeks. Scanned these in but the sketchbook is new and doesn't lay flat.

Court building was closed due to the previous day's snow so they told me to come back at 10. It was pretty cold out so I went to the library. Not enough time to go home and come back.

I'm missing drawing so decided to draw my hand in the morning before I get out of bed. The last time I did this was around early 2015 when I did ASL numbers and alphabet. Maybe I should do the same thing?
