pencil, Casual Dress Shoes

These are hard soled noisy shoes. Medium comfortable as long as you don't have to stand too long or walk too far. The heel forces your weight onto the ball of the foot which makes your back ache if you stand too long. Although they fit pretty well the back is just a hair short which starts to rub on your heel if you have to walk a decent distance at a good pace. I wore these for our 32nd anniversary dinner at Maxie's Southern Comfort. Food was good, nicely plated, and on the expensive side. We like to try and go to different restaurants when we go out. I like eating at regular restaurants instead of buffets because I get to bring food home to enjoy the next day. Mom came with us. I like bringing her because she is good company.

Pencil, Dressy Clogs

I think I got these from my cousin Kim. They slip on really fast, have fairly quiet soles, and are pretty cushy. However you can't walk regular in them as they don't have a back so you can't stride or run in them without them falling off.

I'm not blending as I like seeing the individual pencil strokes made from the mechanical pencil. When I get better at drawing I will probably switch to ball point pen for my practice sketches even though the ink is not light fast.

9x12 pencil, plastic clogs

I bought these a long time ago. They're very handy.

9x12 pencil, leather flip flops

I got these shoes from my sister. I'm not sure what to call them. They're good for summer when you're not wearing socks.

5.5 x 8.5 pencil, dried oak leaf

Picked this up on root river trail when walking last Sunday.

I wish I could get better lighting when I take the pictures.
Pen or when I press hard with pencil takes the best pictures.

pastel 14x17 MSC model

I decided to just use pastels as they are easy to work with. I'm still tired.

I think it turned out pretty well. Her sweater was actually black but I made it red instead. She gets a break every 25' so every time she sits done there is a slight change in how the hair falls and the scarf is draped.

I started out by drawing her in green, Then added purple for the dark lights before going over with other more conventional skin and hair tone colors.

Here's the same model from a previous week in conte crayon

Al says she looks like a movie star in these pictures but I don't know any movie stars.

9x12 pencil, white sandals

A friend of mine is wearing a different pair of shoes everyday and posting pictures of that days shoes on facebook. So I thought I would draw a pair of sandals. Thought about getting rid of them but they still fit.

Basically semi-contour drawing with shading

Jack Dog 5x6 acrylic

Jack's ears were very pink inside.
Originally painted the background burnt sienna, but then went over the background with green. Green was made by missing ultramarine blue with Cadmium Yellow Medium. I am using Utrecht acrylics that I have had for quite a while. The blue is getting real thick.

Here's Rudy painted in 2013 and posted 9/4/13
His ear's flopped down.

Here's Buttercup (now deceased) painted and posted in 2010

conte crayon MSC model 14x17

Difficult start but it finally came together. I need to put some colored conte crayons in. Her eyes were green rimmed with yellow and the scarf was green too.

zentangle fish, pen 3.5x5.5

I really like the funnel and dragonaire patterns. To me the funnels look like plant pots stacked on each other. Experimented with using dragonaire for fish's fins.

Zentangled teapot, 3.5x5.5

I was inspired by the zentangled birds I saw at Biloxi visitor center so I have been learning some zentangle patterns. This teapot came from steaming cup but I drew it from memory.

Some pencil sketches from Steaming Cup in Waukesha

I like the last sketch the best. I'm using my plastic technical pencil in a 5.5x8.5 multi-media sketch book by Art Alternatives. I like this sketchbook. It is nice and flat which makes it easy to carry. Not a lot of pages either.

5 of us met to sketch and talk. It was fun. Last week 2 of us went to Expresso Love in Mukwonago but I didn't end up with any finished sketches. (Too much talking after not sketching together for over 2 months.)
